Today's world or for the matter of fact, the world, teaches us to be cynical. Nothing is accepted as true, so the lie has as much validity as truth. Thus we can spin endlessly, in despair. But there is a way out. Start by observing something or someone who you see as reliable, (Preferably a positive thing).Watch for awhile. Then branch out to see reliability close to that. Keep looking for reliable things. If you keep doing this, and keep expanding it, you will soon develop a "faith" about how well the universe around you is constructed. Serendipitously, you are likely to find that at some point an organizing force, (God), comes into the picture. Part of chaos is that you find what you are looking , listening and feeling for. Look for beauty, love, structure, truth and you will find it. The catch is you have to intentionally seek it, not just run into it while you are miring around in the pig wallow of ugly disappointment.
Sharon: A pre apology for this ramble, Yes, I have repeatedly done this. My addled memory is having trouble coming up with a personal example, though I dhave don't it many times. I am sure you are familiar with the verse, "Count your many blessings, count them one by one." The admonition of the song is an example of this method. Finding reliability is an anti-cynical blessing.
A similar procedure is to look for similarities to someone you love, in someone you do not like. It can be a quirk, a physical characteristic, anything. Keep looking for similarities. If you repeatedly do this, you will often find a natural pull towards wanting a positive relationship with that person, and frequently will at least improve the relationship between the two of you. It's different but the same concept,
Many people think that Chaos and randomness are synonyms. Chaos is not random. Aside from the fact that there is no such thing as random. Chaos is many individual instances in such an overwhelming cross coupled correlation as to be beyond description. It is non- understanding. When one makes connections between people or things, the universe becomes a little less of a mystery. God's creation is in no way random. You take a tiny slice out of infinity. But that slice can be a major part of your life.
When I find myself feeling that a situation is hopeless, I set a positive benchmark of where I am and consider the range of connected choices I can make to at least allow me to remain stable, but preferably make a forward in the process. Then run the experiment and see what happens. The results are more often positive than not.
Remember, when one runs headlong into a brick or stone wall, one almost always injures the wall. If you don't believe this look at your clothing or skin following the collision, I bet you will find parts of the wall imbedded in the running object . You HAVE injured the wall.

Interesting, Gary. Did you do this yourself? Can you give a specific example?

Yes. Run the experiment. Why not? That’s the essence of growth (aka continuous improvement): continuing to experiment.
